Debt Collectors contacing third parties

Hi there,
Quick question, I've read the OFT guidelines on what a debt collector can or can't do and it states:
"disclosing or threatening to disclose debt details to third parties unless
legally entitled to do so"
A debt collector called at my Dad's house, stated they were looking for me, they were from my bank and were debt collectors and wanted to get the money I owed to them. My Dad promtly told them to get lost.
Are they allowed to do this? If not, is there anything I can do, other than just complain? Now my Dad knows something I'd prefer he didn't.
Thanks!

Start by reporting them to the Information Commissioner as they have not only broken the OFT Guidelines but also breached the Data protection act. Then hav a go at the rest of this list.

The Information Commissioners Office, Complaints page: http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints.aspx
(note: I chose to complete and download the .pdf form on Data Protection, which I am also sending to the other offices, with an accompanying letter)
