No matter where you buy a battery from , if it was faulty, it's down to you to get it back to the seller for testing / replacement. If you bought a battery from your local Halfords, Costco, local motor factor or an Ebay seller 200 miles away, YOU HAVE TO GET IT BACK TO THEM!!!! YOU DO. Not them!!! YOU!!!! Thats why most normal people buy a battery from round the corner.
This isn't their problem, it's your problem. You have to get the battery back to the seller!!!
It's a good job you know how to use capitals and exclamation marks, I might not have understood what you meant otherwise.
OP, even if you could send it back, it'd cost you a tenner or more. It was only £55 and you've had 7 months use; I think you just need to cut your losses. Nothing wrong with buying batteries on line, I've done it lots of times with no problems.0 -
The problem is this, the battery is faulty, I cannot legally send it back because couriers will not touch a damaged battery , a company that sells batteries didn't seem to know this , or they did and they know that this leaves it buyers in an impossible position , there is nothing wrong with the car , I've had the alternator and charging system checked. Buying online is not an excuse for bad customer service or unlawful actions , also 7 months into a 4 year warranty is nothing , why should I walk away ? They haven't manufactured the battery , they have been given a bad battery by the supplier , surely they can send it back to them . That's not my problem , if I bought a battery from Halfords and theyd bought it from Bosch and it was 7 months into the 4 year guarantee they would give me a new one and send the old one back to Bosch ,0

I don't know why people on here are giving the op a hard time just for buying a battery off ebay,
this is why I would not buy new electrical stuff off ebay unless it is dirt cheap.
Here is a post on the ebay forums some time back.

OP, you will get better help on the consumer rights board.0

But he'll still get the same advice, or should do. Just put a little kinder.0 -
Not sure that I agree with all the negative comments about the OP buying online. Have recently bought 2 batteries from Tanya Batteries and would expect them to honour any warranty one of which is 4 years. the difference in the price and quality of the batteries was significant. As someone has said get in touch with the manufacturer.0

It is likely if the OP contacted the manufacturer they would want to see the battery to check it is faulty (again the issue with how to get the battery to them) or they may just refer the OP back to the seller as that is who is actually the correct party to be in contact with.0 -
OK, the battery hasn't lasted the 4 years it's meant to. It's too dangerous to courier. Driving with it yourself mightn't even be a good idea. But the company wants to inspect it to know what went wrong - for all they know your car could have wrecked it.
SO. Take photos of the battery. Do you have a report on your car's alternator and charging system? You said they'd been checked. Is it even the right battery for the car? Are you trying to start a Galaxy with a Fiesta battery?!
Email them, with photos and the report, and explain that it's too dangerous to transport, you'll dispose of it responsibly, and please send you a replacement. It is understandable that they want to inspect it, but you'll need to do a bit of work to show them how bad it is, and why you don't want to send it to them.
Would like to see pics here too!0
