Alton Towers Hotel/Waterpark

We're lucky enough to have been gifted 4x entry tickets for Alton Towers so were looking to make an overnight break of it. 4yrs since I've been and never used the waterpark - is this included with onsite hotel(s) or are we going to pay extra for this ?
I'm aware of local hotels (and have enough points with Hilton/Holiday Inn etc to cover a night/breakfast) but happy to pay for onsite if it's worthwhile.
Any thoughts/recommendations ?
