I would have thought the high-gloss Luca range would have suited your requirements. It is well-priced for a lacquered gloss kitchen and most "warehouse" ones have shiny vinyl stuck onto MDF. There have been problems with delamination in the past, though the industry claims this is now sorted. The real problem is getting a workable design that allows you to shop around. If you like the design from Wickes or the independent supplier, it might be possible to deconstruct the plan and work out the measurements!

Hi, yes. spot on! But it doesn't have the full range of cupboard types that we had in mind (whereas their painted range does). We're relooking at what will fit vs what we need- their handy cut out units and square plan are invaluable in this respect!

We recently had a kitchen installed and looked at all the kitchens mentioned above. We started with an ikea layout and then compared this to the others. Ultimately we could not see that the others were worth double the cost of the Ikea one. We went with ikea.

Fitting. I was a bit concerned this could cause issues. Our excellent fitter never mentioned they had problems.

Another point we didn't go high gloss. Our current kitchen is high gloss and to keep it that way is a nightmare. Within 10 minutes there's finger marks on it. We had handles so imagine that handless would exacerbate the issue. Never again!
  • Hi there,

We got our kitchen designed by Howdens - it’s a grey shaker type with a Belfast sink and an island. Came in at about £11.5k.

Emailed the details to DIY Kitchens and they did a like for like quote - £4.5k inc VAT and a quartz worktop.

Went back to Howdens because DIY are having major problems at the moment and they price matched, deducting the worktop price because we don’t like their range.

We used Purple Granite in Worcester to get a quartz worktop and island - £1930 inc template and fitting.

We went up to Pontefract to the DIY showroom to check it out but went for Howdens in the end because of reliability issues with DIY and they price matched, so no reason not to when they’re just down the road from us.
