Purchasing headphones bought online ?

If I were to buy a pair of noise cancelling headphones online from Argos and get them delivered,
Would I be within my right's to open the box, connect them to my phone and try them out and inspect then If not satisfied return them for a full refund ?.
Would the above be classed as "reasonable handling", I've been to John Lewis in the past where a sales rep connected a pair to their mobile phone to let me listen. So again would doing it yourself at home be the same as in the store ?
Advice anyone
