I've got records that show how my energy consumption varies month by month which allows me to calculate roughly how much it will cost and to see when my DD balances.
Yours might be a bit different but you should be able to get a rough idea. Based on your £61.50/mo = £738 per year, so 4% in June = around £30 and 16% in December = £119

These averages are based on nine years worth of readings and it lets me check that my monthly bills are in line with my predictionsNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

Thanks for that. That is really helpful. :beer:0 -
Can't speak for BG but I cannot imagine they would be outdone by nPower, who will work out a bill any time they are asked to; you just call them up.
Please do not be offended when I ask whether you know how to work out your energy costs each month yourself, OP? Sorry if this is a silly question as you are obviously intelligent and responsible enough to be concerned in the first place.0 -

Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.0 -

We know how to work out the kwh and the cost yes. It is just the unknown with this house as we have only been in it a few months. I guess I was just wondering if anyone could shed any light on if they thought we were paying enough or not.0 -
matelodave's percentage chart seems as good as guide as any, I think. So many unknowns, like the weather, affect our usage.
You will be fine, you are aware and on top of things. As already suggested, if you are concerned, you could put some money away each month, ideally in an interest bearing account.
At least you know you will not be posting on here in the middle of winter, asking how your energy company can possibly justify the huge increase in your DD amount. You have seen those posts, I imagine?0
