Should I get Plastered in the Kitchen???

Quick question

I am having my kitchen replaced and the old plaster has been removed and its back to brick.

Basically new wiring will be installed. New plasterboard will be dot and dabbed on and my kitchen will be fitted to this.

Does the plasterboard actually need to be plastered? Once the kitchen is in none of it will be exposed. It will be either tiles or cupboards (as my high units go straight to the ceiling).

Any ideas / experience ?

Thanks

If every inch is being hidden, the nope. It'll speed things up too. As you won't have to wait for the plaster to dry before tiling.

Same situation in our new house. I don't see the point. Even if the kitchen moves in future, the wall would need to be repaired. May as well save the money now and have fresh plaster when it's needed.

    Many thanks

I ended up getting quotes and getting it all plastered in the end... The room was empty and having only bits done would have saved £35 as the guy needed to be there all day anyway... Plus once Id added the bits behind the fridge and washing machine - that you might occasionally see... That said if I was having more of the area tiled I wouldn't have bothered at all - except for the ceiling.

Slightly different opinion here - The external walls would benefit from some insulation, so using something like Qboard or Marmox tile backing boards would be a good idea.
