Happy to elaborate on those - three examples:

Me Uncle Dereck, who worked at a metal forge, sought the financial advice of the bookkeeper who manages the trolley with the payslips. However, he advised Simon to put his money into this protein yoghurt franchise. None of the other lads would touch the stuff and it’s still in his garage to this day.

Secondly, my cousins friend used a financial advisor in Anstruther. Who, for commission, invested his savings in a seemingly lucrative breed of Aberdeen Angus Cattle. It included a free bag of feed for the kids. Apparently… the livestock all had to be put down and he didn’t even get the feed. But I’m informed the fellow was definitely a real financial advisor who specialised in agriculture because he had a cracking watch and a little bit of manure on his shoe.

Lastly, the worst case, Maureen an old neighbour, was contacted by the financial team at her local bank and told to move all her savings to The Bank of The Western Union, which subsequently folded and she lost everything.

Again domain savvy financial advisors at the core of each case.

I don’t know about you, but I have a three strikes and you’re out policy which is why I believe sociable, socialist investment platforms are the only way for us to escape these capitalist predators.

    1. " sought the financial advice of the bookkeeper who manages the trolley with the payslips".

Because someone can add up numbers does not mean they are competent to provide financial advice. My nephew can keep accounts, but not know anything about investing.

    2. "Secondly, my cousins friend used a financial advisor in Anstruther. Who, for commission, invested his savings in a seemingly lucrative breed of Aberdeen Angus Cattle"

We do not know what was said between your cousins friend and this "adviser" that lead to this advice to be given, or to the back ground circumstances. Nor do we know what qualifications this "adviser" had.

Common sense suggests you do not put all your money into just one thing. Had you cousins friend put his money in some "multi asset fund" he would almost certainly still have his money.

    3. " Maureen an old neighbour, was contacted by the financial team at her local bank and told to move all her savings to The Bank of The Western Union, which subsequently folded and she lost everything".

    (a) Did she check it was really her local bank that contacted her and not some conman?

    (b) What was the name of this bank anyway?

    (c) If it was her bank, then she was almost certainly speaking to a "financial salesman" and not a qualified financial adviser.

    (d) Again you do not put all your money into just one thing. If she had put her money into a simple Global Multi Asset Fund she would still have her money.
  • Gentlemen, I'd like to again refer you to my previous post regarding etoro as a venture practicing unprecedented cuckoldry. Whilst those comments might have seemed irreverent or, worse, inane, I feel they harbour some truth.

Think about the name alone. Etoro. It brings to mind a virtual bull farm. Unless one is seeking inroads into the cuckold lifestyle I'd suggest it's best to steer clear!

As I understood your point was a general one: If you listen to your friends the rational bit of your brain fizzles out, your bias kicks in and before you know it you’re in the financial skip, as I am right now.

My posts were pretty clear, so feel free to re-read.

Glad to have called you out on your claim of having "a number of relatives who have put faith in charming, domain savvy financial advisers with appalling results". ;)

Best of luck in your future bucket-shop crypto trading endeavours. And be sure to keep us informed as you prosper.
