A classy cruise?

Can anyone recommend an 'old fashioned' type of cruise where the most exciting entertainment on offer is visiting ancient ruins, then a game of deck quoits followed by a G&T?!
I hate the thought of being on a massive floating wedding cake of a ship with down-market comedians and kids running riot - which is what friends of ours experienced this year.
Surely there's a cruise line that caters for boring old f!rts like us (mid 30s, no kids)

Try SeaDream Yacht Club or Seabourn.
Both are fantastic but the former has no entertainment at all and not a child in sight on either.0 -
Thanks GH - will do some research!"I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0

I do like the look of Hebridean!
I've requested a brochure."I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0 -
you very rarley get offers on that line and you will pay around £1500-£2000 for about a week to 10 day cruise but they do some fantastic cruises
Hold your breath whe the brochure comes throughIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
Go out of school holidays and book one of the child free ships with P&O. I usually book mine through liverpool cruise club and find them really good. I've been on a few different cruise liners and I think P&O are excellent for quality and value for money.
Saying all that, even if you go on a ship with children, they are so well catered for entertainment wise, you don't really know they are on there. The adults can be far more annoying!0 -
