Work has not registered my partners earnings to HMRC

Hi everyone,

We are claiming universal credit and we've just received our first statement. It was unbelievably high, we have received a lot more than we initially thought. As it turns out my partners work has not registered his earnings at HMRC which is why UC has given us the highest level of payment. Now my question is, how do we get his work to register his earnings, as it does sound a bit illegal to us? And also will UC give us a sanction for this? We had no idea this was going on until today 29/07/19 he has been with the company for a year.
The helpline was next to useless, as usual, only told us that my partner has to contact his work and ask them why this hasn't been done...
Thanks

In the meantime post details of the relevant earnings in your UC online journal. Put the overpaid money to one side so that it is available to repay when required.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

We had the same thing happen in April, it fortunate only happened the one month. Self report the earnings and the chances are it will look like he’s earned too much in he next assessment period so you won’t receive a payment that month
