I'm not really sure why some of people are being rude when questions are being asked, it's not like any of you are any better.
People aren't being rude. They are telling the truth. A truth that you either don't like or are not willing to accept. By your own admission, this is your first attempt at something like this. But there are many people on this forum who have vast experience in such matters. But evidently you have no wish to benefit from their experience and knowledge.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -

You can give advice in a respectful manner as some here have done and it was appreciated, but some people tend to deal with situations in a rude manner. There is a fine line between respect and utter rudenessEat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Just saying, you should see Greenwich borough and how they're planning on selling a plot to pocket living with minimal affordable housing, so there are various cases depending on the local council
It's an open forum and we are allowed to have opinions too, but I'm sorry my previous comment seemed personally offensive. It wasn't aimed at you specifically.0 -

I'm not really sure why some of people are being rude when questions are being asked, it's not like any of you are any better. I've seen schemes like this many times, but it's my first time starting from scratch.
TBH, I think you may be falling into the trap of "The less you know about something, the easier it seems."
You kind of imagine that you can spot a plot of land, buy it for peanuts, and make 10s or 100s of thousands in profit.
If it were that easy, anyone and everyone would be doing it, and we'd all be millionaires.
So perhaps a good question to consider whilst doing your planning is "If there is potential to make 'megabucks' from this piece of land, why hasn't somebody else with more knowledge and experience than me done it already."
Perhaps you have a good answer to that question - if so, that's a great starting point.0 -
The reason why that plot of land appears to be not being used by the council is because it is being used for something that you cannot see.
So either it provides access if needed to something at the back of the plot or there is something that runs underground that cannot have a building on top of it.
If it could have been used for building on the council would have used it.0 -
Now you're the one being rude. My day job is literally advising property developers, as a commercial property solicitor. I've got several years' experience working in a local authority. But I'm sure you know better than us about how to go about buying land from the council in order to develop it.
