Bank Switch - Mortgage Prepping

Hello, I'm looking to get mortgage ready by next April, and was wondering if swapping my current account to either Yorkshire Building Society or Nationwide would help improve my chances as they are building societies. Is it worth swapping to get the advantage down the line? and if so who would be best to swap to?

Unlikely- stick with what you have.0

Unless you go for an account with preferential rates then you can stay with your current bank and still apply for a mortgage with another lender.0

There is no benefit to be gained by switching from a high street bank to a building society - most lenders will view these in the same light. The only reason it might matter is if you have an existing relationship with a particular bank/building society and are hoping to get a special rate mortgage. Can't say which (if any) would be worth switching to without knowing more about your personal circumstances, but overall it is unlikely to matter - I'd keep things the way they are for now.0
