Post both upload and download speeds.
Thank you for answering and to Browntoa too for your help.
BT told me last night they will call me to do this test this evening and they say I am getting 18mb to the hub, which I don't think is great for fibre but it is within their guaranteed range.
When I get home I will post the speeds on here, thank you.0 -
Normally your welcome email states the product and price.
Fibre is to the local cabinet and the quality and distance of the cable to your house can downgrade speed.
£52 pm suggests other services besides BB .
Or you have signed up for up to 72 meg BB .0 -
Plug your BT phone number in here https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/ and it should indicate what your likely speed range is for ADSL and VDSL (fttc).
What speeds do they suggest you should get? Check your neighbours also (use the address checker option if you don't have their numbers).
Your modem/router may also give you reassurance that you are VDSL aka fibre and not ADSL via the admin login?
It seems very strange that a speed of 14Mbit/s ADSL isn't a lot faster with FTTC.
Mind you if I could get ADSL at 14 I'd not be paying more for fibre (at the 28-30Mbit/s fttc I have now).0 -
Surely if you log on to the router it should say that it's connected via fibre (VDSL/VDSL2) rather than connecting as ADSL or ADSL2+.0

Its all a bit technical for me now! I have done the speed test and it is 15 download and 2.88 upload.
the link for the dslchecker says vdsl of 60-80; but max observed speed is 17.99 and 3.19.
neighbours is 16-25mb on the DSLchecker.
so both of us are getting around 14-15mb but one of us is apparently on fibre and paying twice as much for the service.0 -
Is this test over Wifi ??
As said distance from cabinet will play a big part in your fibre speed .
Speed may well be the same if your cable from local cabinet is long and degraded .
Not knowing what your fibre contract is 32 52 or up to 80 meg .
Key with all BB is the words UP TO .0 -

On the Dslchecker what are the figures for 'VDSL Range A (Clean)' & 'VDSL Range B (Impacted)' under the 'Downstream Handback Threshold(Mbps)' heading?0 -

You must now connect your modem/router direct to the test socket on the master, removing the home faceplate part. You'll need a filter if the faceplate is the type with two sockets - one small for the modem/router and larger for the telephone. http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/40812/~/what-type-of-master-socket-have-i-got%3F and https://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/57168/c/346/ may help you do this and check stuff you can yourself.
If this improves your speed then there's an issue in your home wiring.
If not it's certain BT need to get Openreach to investigate. So you will need to report the fault to BT to initiate that process.
FYI I recently returned to Talk Talk from Vodafone and had some problems. Lack of dial tone, crackly line and dropped internet. I was getting 22-24Mbit/s with Vodafone. Openreach visited and found a corroded connection on the outside wall of my home which cured all that and gave a speed increase to boot!0 -
If its a non BT / OR fault but users wiring charge is between. £135/ £175.0

What version of HomeHub do you have? If it's a HH4, and you are on fibre, then you'll also have an additional VDSL modem box between the HH4 and the phone socket.0
