Uber- scheduled booking wait time scam

But, really, the point of the complaint was that when you book a taxi from a restaurant (on a two way street), you don't expect it to turn up on the other side of the road, 300 yards away. If you'd ordered a taxi because of mobility issues it would have been completely useless.
No, I ordered the Uber by post.
I’m still slightly confused as to why you didn’t just check uber on your phone to see where the taxi was. Also while you can see where the uber is the driver can also see where you are so they would have been aware exactly where your were.
All I can think of is that there was something about the messages you shared which made the driver decide he didn’t want to have you in his car.
I think uber is fantastic, use them a lot and have never had a problem.0 -

Doozergirl understood perfectly and even provided a solution.
Yes I realise that Doozer has now explained to you how to use basic technology so you won’t have this problem again.
I just find it a bit surprising that you didn’t just look at your phone to see where the taxi was!
I realise not everyone is tech savvy so i suppose these things do happen.
On the plus side I’m sure you won’t make the same mistake again :T:T:T:T:T0 -
This seems a bit strange.
Did you not have your phone with you?I’m still slightly confusedI just find it a bit surprising that
Yup, you really do seem to be having trouble grasping what seems to be a very simple situation. And the fact that you think the poster could have ordered a Uber without a phone is amusing.
He ordered a Uber and expected it to appear outside as has always happened before, quite understandably as they told him it would be outside the pharmacy, and there was one next door.
The driver said he'd arrived, there was a quick exchange of messages, and the driver drove off. He then checked the map (how else do you think he found out where the can had been?), and, on walking there, discovered it was 300 metres away.
And while you were blethering on about not looking at a map - which, if you'd used a tiny bit of common sense you could have realised was not what happened, Doozergirl immediately grasped the problem and provided a solution - unlike your poor confused self.
And, not being aware of every option that you have not needed is hardly an inability to use basic technology. Particularly if you rarely use the app.0 -

Yes, you've got it in one. As is suspect did anyone with any intelligence.
Uber were very good, when I contacted them. They agreed that the driver should have waited significantly longer - fortunately they could see how quickly it happened from their message logs. They refunded the 'missed pick up' and also gave me the replacement journey for nothing.0
