Im not looking to be a multiple landlord at all, just conscious of yields and returns, but really it is just a short term solution so it’s not left empty for much longer.
i fully take the point about my daughter having to like or lump it regarding which house to live in.Many thanks 🙏1 -

Having a tenant will really make it harder (and more expensive) to sell when the time comes.And it sounds from what youve posted that the bungalow is the right way to go because should you ever wish to sell it later on it sounds nicer to live in and much more saleable than the house? And perhaps better suited to you as you get older?2 -
Update March 2021: in case anyone who commented originally is interested......
I decided to rent out the bungalow via an agent, there is a professional couple renting it on a year’s contract due up in August. No problems so far.
Our house needs work doing to it, mainly damp related. We had to get a new boiler put in last summer which is a selling point. House is in a popular area due to nearness to the prom/river/nice park so don’t think we’d have a problem selling it. Neighbours however ..... our next door likes to put her wheelie bin in the road to “reserve” her parking space outside her house, she does this at 5.30 am at the the weekends when she is working, which I think is unreasonable as it wakes me up. Parking is an issue generally due to residents having more than one car and visitors to the area due to it being popular.
We actually like the area despite this as we like to walk/cycle along the prom and the bungalow is more inland.
However, we are 100% certain that we want to sell, and 90% certain that we will go to the bungalow (with daughter).
