How do I stop people parking?

Options
Slightly different post for me.

I’m a strong advocate of this site, having successfully fought over 5 PCNs up to County Court (Small Clains Track).

I’m considering buying the private road our house is on, to prevent the developers selling to a commercial enterprise (aka fleecehold).

How can I stop unauthorised vehicles parking on this road without bringing the parasitical PPC’s in?

Thinking about making it a gated community as there is no right of way on the road.

Suggestions welcomed!

some developments are gated for exactly this purpose, which usually begs the question as to why parking par@sites are employed on some of them
  • We own ours but the council insist that it is a highway with 'rights of passage'.....it is a legal minefield.

    Good luck with that!

Do you think there will, actually, be a parking problem. If you do it and there are a lot of hurdles/questions before you even get there I wouldn't do anything until you have some idea of what the issues will be (if you haven't already).

Gates are expensive and can go wrong trapping people inside - been there and got the t shirt a number of times. Presumably, you will be passing the costs on to the other residents. That may not make you very popular!

And, I am afraid, gated developments don't stop rogue parking which is why you get PPCs still sometimes patrolling them. Residents let their friends/relatives in and then they park anywhere. I had a thread going on that as my friend had that exact problem

I'd try other things like yellow lines/signs etc before embarking on anything costly or PPC related. As I've said on a number of occasions we have an on off problem with parking on the road on our estate. We have looked at PPCs as one alternative but I would only do that with the self ticketing option. That way you don't get the PPC on site and you can cancel tickets etc
