Advice4Claims - real or scam?

Options
Hi - I received a letter from a company called Advice4Claims about a month ago. They said I was owed £71.04 in PPI and requested I pay a 25% ‘service charge’ (£21.31 inc vat). Obviously, I just assumed this was a scam and disregarded the letter but upon finding it again today I thought I’d check them out. Can’t find anything online either way (real or scam) so thought this might be the place for info 😊

So, has anyone heard of this company? Had a refund? Been scammed?

If you're not asked them to post any letters for you, then it's not going to be genuine.

And if it was genuine, they wouldn't be asking you for 25%.

I do remember filling in paperwork for someone but because I can’t find anything about them I’m stuck on if it was them or not 🤷🏼!♀️

Re the 25% - there’s usually a fee to pay isn’t there? Oh it’s a pain in the burr not knowing 😂

There's always a fee to pay.

But it's now capped at 24%, unless you opted for a more expensive postal service before the regulations came in.

1 - It would be unlawful for a CMC to raise a complaint without your permission
2 - it would be unlawful for a bank to respond to a CMC without your authority
3 - 25% is in breach of the regulatory maximum fee.
4 - In the vast majority of cases, redress comes to you directly from the bank and you then pay the CMC that you have signed a contract with.

So, multiple issues here that suggest that it is dodgy unless you did actually employ them and have forgotten.
