Does anyone pay the majority of their bills monthly using this?
Which ones will and will not let you?

Not many places accept Amex when it comes to utility companies and the like.
This site is quite useful: https://www.whoacceptsamex.co.uk/0 -
Thanks for this.0

Generally it's not worth using Amex to pay bills as almost no utility company will take it - and in my experience, every service provider makes it cheaper to pay by direct debit than by card.
There is a service called Billhop that enables you to pay any bill with Amex, but I think there is a 3.5% fee per transaction which of course wipes out any cashback benefit. It may be useful for paying company bills that you can obviously charge out though.
The best use of the Amex Everyday card is as the name suggests - everyday spend. AFAIK it's taken by all supermarkets and most online retailers. There is also a handy loophole where an online retailer doesn't accept Amex but will accept PayPal. PayPal WILL accept Amex so assuming the retailer doesn't charge extra for PayPal, you can pay with Amex that way. You may however lose some of your purchase protection rights.0 -
We are able to pay our council tax at Paypoint locations and our local Co-op (which has / is a Paypoint) accepts Amex. I haven't tried it, but I'm led to believe (from other forums / websites) that we are able to pay our council tax by Amex as a result. Might be worth looking into.0

Bump, about to apply for this card and would like to understand this better. So it may not be possible to set up direct debits to pay my bills from this card but is it possible to set up a standing order on this card? To pay my monthly rent from it?0

You can't set up either DDs or SOs from a credit card. Only CPAs, but that depends on who you are paying.
But the question remains as to whether the payee accepts Amex.0
