Hi

I am looking to switch supplier today and recall an old email about having to go on Moneysupermarket to get the best rate from British Gas.

When I put in my details, there is a difference between the comparison sites, e.g. standing charge is lower but tariff is higher at Cheap Energy Club vs Moneysupermarket.

What is the reason for this again?

Kind regards

Moo

Operator error, GIGO, you are looking at different tariffs, etc.

MSE uses the MSM database for all their tariff info.

Price comparison website often vary: it sometimes takes a few days for them to be updated.

Even worse, Ofgem no longer requires the whole market to be shown so the results are often only from the expensive companies that pay commission.

Make sure you include the CEC and Citizen's Advice to see the full market.

What suppliers do they include that other comparison sites don't?

They show the whole of the market.

In its wisdom, Ofgem has ruled that price comparison websites no longer have to show all suppliers.

That isn't the answer to the question I asked. It's ok if you don't know, I was just curious as to which suppliers are being left out.

Right now, switchgasandelectric.com isn't showing me Outfox The Market and Eco7, not that I'd use the latter again !

CEC do not show the full market.
They are missing Symbio Energy so there is one that I know of. They don't even show them in the "Edit your Details" page and I have emailed them to let them know.

Any OFGEM official comparison site that doesn't show the whole market is supposed to give you an easy to find link to the Citizens Advice Bureau price comparison site.
