Can anyone suggest how I can improve things here?

On an outside wall, is mounted a very old motion sensitive spotlight. It's now broken and falling off and needs to be removed and/or replaced.

The 2.5 twin and earth cable feeding this has been fed through the wall and down to the fitting (around 60cm). The cabling is not ducted or held to the wall in any way. Obviously not safe or suitable.

So how can I sort this?

At the very least I need some sort of weather proof junction box to perhaps terminate the cable at the point where it emerges from the wall, then at some later date, think about how to cable down to the fitting. I'm thinking here of metal, zinc plated fittings that I've seen here and there but I can't find them on the web. Would plastic fittings and pipe be suitable too - I've used these internally in my shed but I'm not sure about outdoors?

Any thoughts welcome.

Cable use SWA or a cable inside 20mm galvanised conduit.

If its not been eaten by the sun then it just wants clipping, and have a loop at the bottom so water runs off and not into the lamp.

Metal conduit is available in Screwfix and others. Note that you will need to cut and thread the ends yourself.

Better would be to use waterproof boxes and NYY-J or Hituff cable eg which is available per metre from electrical wholesalers (who will sell retail).
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

Yes, that's what I thought and that would be far too difficult to achieve.

Thanks, I'll have a look at those.
