Enough time on internal flight from vegas to LA??

A bit of advice needed please.

I have booked a return flight from Heathrow to LA next year, but am actually returning from Vegas ( internal flight only $49 plus tax) .

My ? is how long do I need to get off an internal flight and then check in for my flight back to heathrow. I dont know LA international. I am looking to book an 11.45 dep from vegas which gets in to LA at about 1300 and my return to the UK is at 17.20. Is that enough time? even if I was an hour late getting in to LA

Assuming that your flight from Vegas is arriving in LAX then that should be plenty of time. We flew on Virgin last month and check in only opened about 3 - 4 hours before departure.

Sometimes the airline will check in your baggage for the whole flight (LAS - LAX - LHR) so no need to pick it up at arrivals all you have to do is proceed into transfers and then check-in there or if they can do all the trip at LAS then you would be OK

I will be flying from vegas to la with american west on a single ticket and then onwards to heathrow with virgin on a different ticket....do you think american west will check me in for the whole flight?

My main concern is that I dont know how far it is from the internal arrival to the international departure.

You should go to the america west home page and find out how to contact them and just ask if they have an arrangement with Virgin to take onward luggage.
However, you have PLENTY of time between flights. There is no way that you would be an hour late as firstly, that is the time that the flight takes and there are dozens of flights between LV and LA daily.
