Cantium retail park Southwark - ParkingEye PCN - dropped car off at Halfords

Hi,
I'm sorry for creating a new thread. I went through the FAQ sticky but just couldn't get my head around it. I would grateful if someone could point me to the link/thread relevant to my situation -
I dropped my car off at Halfords Old Kent Road in south London around 10am for a stereo fitting and picked it up at 4pm. There is a 3 hour max stay indicated in the car park. The fitter told me the parking isn't a problem as I was a customer and he would sort it out.
One week later I get a "PCN" in the post from ParkingEye for £60/100 for overstaying at Cantium Retail Park.
I call Halfords and their advice is to "ignore it".

Thanks.

Send the already written for you blue text template appeal you will have seen in post #1 of the NEWBIES sticky thread.
Send it unchanged - no additions or alterations needed.
Send it as the keeper.0 -
The worst advice is to ignore this.
Return to Halfords and speak to the manager pointing out that they were responsible for your car at the time and you want this charge cancelled.
If they are unhelpful let them know you will be contacting the CEO with a complaint and you will be mentioning how disappointed you are with their lack of customer care.

When you send the initial appeal, add a final sentence to state that the vehicle was in the care of Halfords for work to be carried out, and here is a copy of the invoice confirming this.
@OP - please note, do not include any words like 'I left the vehicle with ...', 'I parked the vehicle at ....', 'When I picked up the vehicle ...' which identify the driver. Just refer only to 'the vehicle'Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Criminally irresponsible. If you moved house your credit score could be trashed. You might be unable to renew a mobile 'phone contract, get a job in finance, obtain a mortgage, or insure your car. Plus your cat might not sit on your lap.
You need to kick !!!! with Halfords !!! some fitter has fitted you up. ,You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
So, I sent the initial appeal using the P/E website on July 27 using the template on the sticky, also attached the receipts showing drop off and pick up times. Thaankfully there's a receipt for when the fitter checkedout the items in the morning and a receipt for when I paid in the afternoon.
I also complained to Halfords using MSE Resolver on the same day.
I haven't heard anything back from P/E yet (their email say up to 28 days).
The Halfords store manager at Old Kent Road called me a week ago, took the reg number, my email address and and said he would "get it cancelled" and let me know. Haven't heard anything back from him yet.
If Halfords do get P/E to cancel it, will P/E send out any communication confirming that?
Is there anything else I need to be doing at the moment please?
Thanks for all the advice until now.0 -
PE have 35 days to make a decision to your appeal
They should confirm that it's been cancelled if that is the case
Go to their site, input the details and check if there is a balance outstanding or not0 -
Just got an email from PE replying to my appeal confirming that it's been cancelled, but still maintaining that it was my mistake. It isn't clear from their response as to why they then cancelled it.
I complained formally to Halfords through MSE Resolver and they sent an email to PE (cc'ing me) asking for the ticket to be cancelled, which is probably what did it.
Thanks all for your help!0 -

yes , for using halfords
yes for taking your car to a place that is infested with vermin , ie parking companies0 -
I've had the car for almost 4 years and never ever had a problem with the electrics, until a few days ago when half the electrics stopped working.
Turns out it was the bloody Halford's stereo that was blowing a fuse responsible for about 4 different things, including central locking.
All this on top of the Halford's induced introduction to Parking Eye! Oh, how I regret ever going to Halfords in the first place.twhitehousescat wrote: »yes , for using halfords
