The care issues comes up a lot and rightly so, but it’s worth bearing in mind that most people don’t live to the point that they need residential care.
It’s only people who are immobile and need assistance of 2 carers and/or can’t make safe decisions for themselves (about food, drink, health, physical acts, or fire) that need residential care.
Some can have care visits at home and in that case the home they are living in doesn’t come into the financial assessment. We’re getting better with equipment and technology to assist, Some will die before needing any care at all.
So whilst it’s definitely something to consider it’s actually a minority scenario.0
