Long waiting times. Universal Credit

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has had to hand in fit/sick notes for as long as I have?
I went onto Universal Credit in September 2016 and because I am ill I was told that I had to hand in fit notes. I did this from September 2016 right up to July 2018, so 23 months! In July 2018 I was declared unfit for work so I no longer had to hand in fit notes. I also had to wait from September 2016 until February 2018 before I was given a work capacity assessment.

One year later and I have just been sent another UC50 so I am guessing they will have me in for another ATOS assessment. I am wondering how long I will have to wait for my latest assessment once they recieve my UC50 and if they say I am fit how long will it take for a mandatory reconsideration and then a tribunal date?

They will contact you for another assessment within about 3 weeks of the UC50 being returned. Then say assessment within a month. Then say 3 weeks for assessment company to send a report to UC and then 3 weeks for UC to advise decision. So you could be looking at 3 months for this.

If you had to appeal through mandatory reconsideration (MR), it can take a month or so for any appeal to be looked at. Not sure of your local tribunal timescales. Your local Citizens Advice might know.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
