Lloyds Classic Current a/c Cheque Book?

Hello, I recently opened this account. Does anyone know if you get a cheque book and paying in book automatically or do I need to order them? Can’t find anything in the T&C about it.

You'll struggle to find any banks that "automatically" send cheque books and paying in books these days. Some may offer the option (of a chequebook at least) during the online application. Lloyds' online help pages offer help on obtaining them once the account is open.

Thanks - I suspected as much. I’ll order them.

There is only one company a year I pay by cheque. So the cheque book remains locked in the safe. I think I last counted 10 blank cheques remaining. Hopefully the company will have moved with the times by the time the cheques are used up.

Thanks for the replies. I still find myself issuing and receiving cheques from time to time. I like them!

Admittedly off on a tangent - but I am particularly in love with one particular NatWest cheque book. It was pictorial and had our wedding venue (a building overlooking Plymouth Sound) on it. Particularly apt as my husband was a NatWest clerk at the time. It's in our archive (and explains why 1 cheque in 5 was never presented)!

There are still some financial institutions which insist on a cheque for an initial deposit, so I will always maintain at least one current account with a cheque & paying in book;)

Surprisingly there are still plenty of companies that will take bank transfer payments yet make no effort to publicise that or provide their bank details on their invoices.
When faced with paying one of those in theory I'd ring up, wait while they try to find someone who can say yes and then can find the details, so in practice I often find it's easier just to write a cheque.

HMRC have a box on their tax refund claims form for bank details but always ignore it and post a cheque.
