Reclaiming PPI for a deceased relative

Options
Hi

With the PPI deadline of the 29/08/19 fast approaching, I have been told that it is possible to reclaim PPI on a deceased relative’s estate? My mum died in 2007. Couple of questions:

1) Did PPI exist after 1995?
2) How do you start a claim if you don’t know what financial institutions they had business with? Is there a way to check this
3) Has anyone had success in reclaiming PPI under these circumstances?

Any advice would be appreciated!

    PPI still exists today.
It ceased to be offered on Bank loans and credit cards in 2009.
You'd have to get in touch with every likely lender, providing relevant details of your Mother along with proof that you have the right to complain on her behalf. You simply ask each of them if they have any record of your Mother having PPI.
Certainly, plenty have been successful in this regard. However, for you time is of the essence and you've left it very late to start your research.

do you just fill out an online claim form for a deceased relative that you have no paperwork for, and let the bank search their records, or do you have to get any records from the banks first, check if there is any ppi on it and then put in a claim.???

I doubt there'll be any online form which specifies it's for a deceased relative. As I said, you'll first have to show proof that you have the right to act on your late Mother's behalf before you'll receive any information at all.

Remember that it's not somehow wrong simply to have insurance. In order for it be refunded (if she actually had it) your mother's insurance policies will have to be shown to be mis-sold. Note also that you won't be able complain about conversations that you were not privy to. You have to stick to facts only.
