It’s not just experience it’s also the amount of time a license is held, so the cost may not be that bad

That’s what I’m hoping for! I will be 30 by then and have had my license for 4/5 years so I’m hoping the insurance won’t be back up to £1000+ Even without my NCB if I do lose it due to the time of not being on the road!

And it will still b cheaper than insuring a car for years without using it

But none of those are needed.

Correct and most of us never need to claim but some learn the hard way.

I was on a skiing holiday in USA. Met a really nice couple on day one. "We don't need insurance". Day 2 she had an accident a tore her cruciate ligaments. Could not afford medical treatment or the cost of a flight home. She hobbled about for two weeks and then flew home. I wonder if she can walk now? :(

That's another example of not needing something.

Not really, the injury happens either way. Maybe your point is don't take risks. Fair enough. Don't go skiing and this wouldn't have happened.

Where is she getting 4 years driving experience from, if she stops driving now for 3 years?

Insurers ask when you passed your test not how much driving you have done since.
