Council flat in central london - opinions?

Very central location that obviously comes at a premium. Looking at rightmove statistics, very few properties in that block have been sold on, which would make me nervous. Highest price paid in that block was £750k. That was a few years ago, but I would worry about re-sale.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I still struggle to get my head around London prices. Move out 25 miles to Essex, Kent or Herts and you could get a 5 bedroom detached house for that money!
To be honest, I still struggle to get my head around moving out to Essex, Kent or Herts! I grew up in a lovely part of Essex, but I can’t ever imagine wanting to live outside a big city again.
“Different strokes for different folks...” isn’t that what they say (or something?)0

It is too expensive for an ex local authority flat that needs modernising and is non standard construction.0

Stay away from local authority blocks. The costs of refurbishment can be huge!0

My local Council is currently spending £5M on refurbishing flats and maisonettes. There's a 6 storey block near us. It took a month just to erect all the scaffolding. Balconies are being replaced, roof and goodness knows what else. Heaven help any leasehold owners in any of these blocks.0
