International Friends Saving Together

I have 2 life-long friends living in Holland and Australia. We all want to meet in a couple of years somewhere for a family holiday and need a mechanism to encourage us to save. We're thinking £200 per month each family, then pool the money to pay for all travel and accommodation, so it's fair no matter who has to travel farthest or has a bad currency rate at the time of booking. We all trust each other not to run off with each other's money, but we want to avoid charges and other costs and hassles associated with sending money each month to an account in one of our countries.

I think there's multi-currency accounts that may help, but I wonder if there's something like a go fund me type service out there to raise money for a holiday?

Thanks in advance!

I think it would make the most sense to each save in your own countries and then sort it out just before you pay for everything.

Maybe set up a Facebook group to encourage each other?

Agreed, pooling has all sorts of potential and actual issues. Just save individually and pool at the end if you must though might be easier to just settle up after each has spent whatever they will spend, if you have some way if agreeing how to apportion costs.

Could you all transfer the money to a PayPal account which you share access to? I have no idea if that is an acceptable use of PayPal?
