EOS solutions

Hi. In about 2003 I took a loan put with welcome finance. I was young and stupid and after a year or two I stopped paying this off and defaulted. I agreed a payment plan with them and paid this off for a year or so. But then for whatever reason I stopped. To cut a long story short this was about 12 years ago. However I have recently had a letter at my old address saying o still owe £884 and this debt has now been sold to a company called EOS solutions. Being brutally honest I had completely forgotten about this debt.
My question is. As this debt is so old. And I have moved address and changed numbers since. Do I have to still pay this? Will they track me down? As the debt is over six years old can they still harrass me for it?

Is there a CCJ for the debt?0

No. No ccj. There never was.0

Have you checked credit files since? Just because you didn't have a CCJ 12 years ago, does not mean one was not done 6 years ago. I assume this was an unsecured loan?
If there has been no payments or admission of debt in the intervening years and a CCJ not applied for then no they cannot make you pay, see https://www.nationaldebtline.org/EW/factsheets/Pages/time-limits-for-recovering-debts/statute-barred-debt.aspx
However any causal action in the intervening years may have reset the clock at some point.0 -
Thanks for you response. I have checked my credit file and there is not sign of anything to do with this on there. I have had no conversations with anyone from welcome for as long as I can remember. I heard they went bump years ago so presumed it was case closed.0

Who did you check your credit file with ?
There's 3 agencies to check.0 -
I bought a house last year so prior to getting a mortgage I got my credit file from Equifax0

Check Experian and TransUnion.
Sign up to the MSE Credit Club and Credit Karma UK to get those reports respectively0 -
Thanks. I've signed up to both the mentioned services and there's no mention of the debt on either?0

It’s likely to be statute barred then.
Send them a statute barred letter

Exactly the same story... I stupidly in my youth got loan in 2006 defaulted on and got letter from EOS chasing £940 - last made a payment in 2014 then the company was paying went bust (Lewis Group) nobody ever chased it till today. So not statue barred and they assure me it won’t go on credit file. It was already on when I defaulted on it in 2008 and has since fallen off added by Welcome originally.0
