You could send a SAR to Aviva. If the letter quotes the PPI policy number you might get back enough evidence e.g. the name of the lender and credit card number, to pursue a complaint.0 -
I'm not sure the insurer would have the individual details on a credit card PPI. From memory (and it may differ with card providers), the bank/card provider collected the premium and the bank paid the insurer part of the premium on a collective bulk basis and they shared the risk and the profit. The ins, company was CGU which has now evolved to be Aviva. Aviva is a big company which is made up of multiple bought companies. Many of which still operate out of the original offices and are not able to see the details of other policies within the group. e.g. if you emailed Aviva Life & pensions (which is the dominant company) they would not necessarily hold the information on the general insurance company side. Or if you emailed the old Friends Provider office or the old AXA Sun life office or Aviva investors etc etc.
In fact, its probably never a good idea to email Aviva and sit back and wait.0 -
Thanks everyone.
I did email Aviva and got a reply saying that my enquiry has been passed on to someone who might be able to help me. Fingers crossed.
sun73- I don't know what a SAR is. The letter doesn't show the plociy number, only the claimn no and their ref.
zx91- the letter is all I have in my own files and no online credit checker goes back far enough0 -
Subject Access Request, a letter to request all personal information the business holds about you, which is now free. You can find examples of a SAR on here and through a google search.
Quote all the references shown on the insurance letter as it still might help Aviva locate something, or send them a copy.0
