This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Good morning folks.

It's dark and sweaty here so I'm hoping for a thunderstorm to clear it all.

My day will start soon, I know there will be those who have moved mountains already and waiting for their second breath but I've been surfing for a couple of hours.

It's shopping this morning and then I'll go out when DM's crossword friend comes to visit. I'm hoping to meet up with some friends who are in town for the swimming championships.

Now I wish everyone a happy Saturday.

    Morning all

Thanks for the thread gers and hugs to all those in need.

We moved off the marina yesterday, not far, one lock and one swing bridge. We started to moor up when a man came over and told us we weren't allowed to moor there. A somewhat heated exchange took place. We pay in excess of £1000 a year to the C&RT to license our boat and this means we can moor along the towpath.

Quite why someone would buy a house by the canal and then complain about the boats is beyond me but the world is full of idiots.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning folks and thanks GERS for starting us off. It's dark and sweaty here too. No rain as yet but when it arrives they say it will be with us all day.

Sadly I am not one of those that has already moved mountains! I have been in sloth mode since I got up, messing about doing nothing and not even got beyond thinking about the Friday Tidy postponed from yesterday.

I have been out to feed the birdies and that has been the limit to my exertions! They empty the seed tray at a rate of knots and, rather than fat balls last week, I bought them some posh looking suet nuggets and they seem to like them rather too much. I am forever having to top up the holder.

Other than cleaning no other plans for today. ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. Take care the carers and a wave to absent friends. Have a good day folks if you can xx

Grr to the stupid man HESTER.

    Morning all

Its raining heavily here and set in for the morning i think so washing will have to go in the drier or on the airer in the conservatory, one wash load is on and another to follow after.

I have had a problem with my car driving home yesterday an error light came on and when I got home and turned the engine off it wouldn't start again, RAC came out last night and got it going for me and advised that I take it into the garage today, its a pain as the garage is a good 40 mins drive away and it will eat into my Saturday, I am just waiting for a call to arrange a courtesy car as well.

Not sure if OH or I will go shopping depends on when I can drop car off but one of us will go.

Dinner tonight was going to be a bbq but we will have to see what the weather does, its meant to brighten up at lunch time, if not I fancy a steak with SW chips and stuffed mushroom, its my treat day so I will have a glass of wine too !

Housework to do this morning, OH will do upstairs and I will do down.

Got my gas and electric bill through yesterday I am almost £400 in credit, so I have asked for that back which will be a nice boost to the bank account ! They never offer to give your money back do they ??

Hester that man sounds charming !! I would have thought it would be lovely to look out the window at boats along the towpath ! thats what it was built for !!

    Have good days all xx

Quick Hello from me. I do read along every day but struggle to find much of interest to post. However health is not too bad at the moment and I am doing a little more. SIL came to stay last weekend and just having company gave me a boost. We went to a local household auction on the Saturday morning and she bought a boxful of cut glass for £10.00!! Went to a neighbours birthday BBQ in the afternoon so was tired out on Sunday. Best wishes to all.
Closely Knit group in the church shortly, much nattering and cake eating as well as the odd bit of knitting!

The sun is playing peek-a-boo with the clouds but it's very warm already. There is however a nice breeze blowing.
I gave myself a good shake yesterday and did a small wash and the dreaded ironing :(. I only left a couple of items in the basket and at least now I won't be buried by the amount of clothes should they topple over . Dad called in too and brought me some rhubarb, so I need to cook that as I want to make a tart with it later.
This morning I have stripped the bed and the bedding is doing the quick step in the WM, wish I had that energy :(. I feel I'm forcing myself to do things but I must hoover the bedroom and remake the bed later or we'll be camping out under the stars tonight. Hmmmm now there's an idea . Trouble is my garden is somewhat sloped so we could end up anywhere :rotfl:.
Tea tonight will be chicken portions and mediteranean veg. Just one pan and shove it in the oven :j.
Gers I hope you have a good day with Mum.
Hester  to the idiot man.
RedRuby I hope you can get your car fixed quickly.
Poppy I'm glad you are feeling a little better. Long may that continue.

Hester, I had the same problem when I was Town Clerk. You would not believe the people who bought houses backing on to the park and then complained about the children in the play areas or the footballers making a noise. Not to mention the person who rang and complained that one of the trees in the park was shedding its leaves into his garden and what was I going to do about it! I found it quite hard to be polite.

Steve has gone to play golf so I am having a quiet morning. We are going to a hog roast tonight which will have to be indoors unfortunately, after all the sunshine it's been raining all morning.

Afternoon all. Cooler here but still dry and sunny. Dgs was so excited to see his daddy yesterday. He kept himself awake so that he could go to meet daddy at the airport last night.

We are having a quiet morning before rhey arrive later to play in the garden and have tea. DD is cooking some kind of noodle dish here. She only has a small kitchen in her flat.

Gers enjoy your outing and hope Mum has a good crossword session with her buddy. Snoozer shame about the weather. Enjoy the hog roast anyway.

HH what a cheek! He doesn't own the canal!

Well OH is preparing lunch so I'd better go. Hugs and spoons all round.

Afternoon all. The M25 is in utter chaos this morning at various points along the route I need to take. How can 1 broken down car cause 7 miles of congestion? I understand that accidents need to be investigated and emergency services should take as long as necessary, but a broken down car should surely be able to be dealt with before 4 lanes of solid traffic builds up for 7 miles. Grrrrr
Will try again later - back home now for a cup of tea.

Snoozer, when my Steve was a school caretaker a neighbour complained about the school trees shedding leaves in his garden, his garden was full of the same trees!
