Oven bulb

What would cause the oven bulb in a 12 year old AEG fan oven to keep blowing? I have tried different makes and some only last a few days.

  • Possibly a power surge. Ring 08705 950 950, electrolux/aeg helpine. Dont get them out it will cost an arm and a leg, but they should be able to give advice, dont get put through to local service center, wait on the line for a customer service rep.

Either as above with the protective glass OR the bulb holder has dodgy contacts which heats the lamp base and leads to premature failure.

I had this problem some months ago and I rang the oven makers. They told me to check the bulb holder as any damage/distortion to this can short the bulb out ( as in earlier post ). This turned out to be the problem as it was indeed a little bent and was catching on the side of the contacts. never had the problem since i reshaped it
  • Sounds stupid, but are you definately sure it's an oven bulb? It should have 300 degrees symbol stamped on it somewhere.

I sell oven bulbs, and you would be surprised how many people put fridge bulbs in their oven by mistake and wonder why they dont last very long.:o
  • Definately oven bulbs used each time - thanks all and I'll have a look at the weekend
