Hi all,
Just have no luck with cars. My other car needed to much doing to it, so at the weekend went and bought a 54 plate golf convertible. Looked all good, needed a couple things cosmetically doing and a service, which I used to haggle down the price. On the receipt he wrote minor repairs and service needed but all was good.
Now the rear passenger window is busted and won’t go up or down. I have to physically pull it up but it still comes down.
As I have only had it a week, is this something I can get the dealer to fix?
Thanks
Andh

Yes, less than a week it would almost certainly be deemed to have been there at the point of sale so I'd say you're entitled to it fixing.
Getting that done by a dealer could be a whole different ball game. Did you not try that window before you bought?0 -

Not a big job as far as im aware, its most likely the window regulator that has snapped a cable its common on vw's mk4 and 5's i would say £100 - £150 all in supply and fit, i could be wrong as i have never done it on a convertible before but the systomes sound the same as the fronts.
fantastic that you did not go out and buy a new caron pcp just because you older carwas breaking down like many folk do, we dont like paying for repairs every month but will happily pay on a pcp every month its mad, hopefully you get it sorted“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

Was it bought privately or from a dealer?
54 plate seems too old for a dealer, so I assume it was a private sale....
And if so, you have no come-back.
A dealer might offer to repair it.
Sounds like a trivial DIY repair regardless.0 -
Next car you buy, test everything before you buy it, air con, windows, stereo etc etc0

It was a used car dealer. It did work when I got it, so wasn’t one of the things I haggled with. There was some noise but thought that was where the car had been sat for couple of weeks. It was a couple of days later it broke. The dealer saw it was working before I leftProud dad to Darcy.....0

Fault wasnt present at the time of sale then, so no, i dont think the dealer has any obligation to repair it, particularly given the age of the car.0 -
Does that mean I can try get him to do something? Is there any consumer laws or anything I could use?Proud dad to Darcy.....0

It's a 15 year old car, it will have things wrong with it or things about to go wrong with it. I think you'd be hard pressed invoking your rights under the Consumer Rights Act on this one for a free repair, particularly as it was noted as requiring minor repairs at the time of sale.0

Dealer cant / wont stand over a 15 year old car for wear and tear shocker....0 -

You could try him, but the reality is its a 15 year old car with a wear and tear related issue that wasnt present at the time of sale.0
