Expiry date before start date

Many years ago back in 1998 when my Associates Capital Corporation credit card was due to expire, the replacement came through the post but with a valid from date of 07/98 and an expires end date of 06/98. I still have the card as part of my quirky collection of memorabilia.

Was this a rare event or is it quite common for such cards to be issued in error?

Has anybody else on here ever received wrongly dated cards?

Used to happen quite frequently on Amex cards before they stopped it in mid 2000 (They used to say Amex card last a 100 years!)
