in Credit cards
Hi,
I am just looking for a bit of advice about my tactics of getting a new BT card,
I moved flat 3 months ago, annoyingly in the middle of my council’s annual canvas so my details at the earliest will not be updated on the electoral roll until it is published on the 1 Dec.
Immediately after this (foolishly, having wished I read this forum earlier) I applied for the Sainsbury’s card and was rejected.
Having just moved I can see this having an affect, plus I have 2 bank accounts one with Nationwide open for around 1 year plus another with a different bank which has become in-active for the past year but it has been open for the 7 years prior. I used the Nationwide account on the Sainsbury’s card application
Currently have 1 Card with a tiny balance, that is paid off every month, I have had a 4 - 5 cards over the past 7 years all of which have been closed by myself over the years. A recent check of my Experian report showed nothing untoward or any defaults. I have no other credit aggreements
With this in mind I am looking to apply again soon as I have a big purchase coming up that I would like to put off or pay a minimal amount for the next 6-10 months. So am looking for advice on a few points before diving into the next application,
Sorry if this is a bit long winded, but would be grateful if anyone can provide any advice in general on the points above?

- When is the best time to apply after the annual canvas, how long does it take for the agencies to update there records after the publication?
- Can I use the bank account on the application that I have had for longer even though it is open but with no activity on it for the past year?
- Is it regarded as a wise move to apply to credit companies that I have previously held agreements with, but have been ended or would this be discouraged?

Appeal the Sainsbury's rejection, citing what you've said in your OP. Emphasise your stability, ie your long time with your bank (perhaps say you think you may have entered the wrong account on the form), time at previous address, on the electoral roll at (all) your previous address(es). You could mention that you do all your shopping at Sainsbury's.
BTW, you don't sound too clear on what you want. You mention a BT card, and then go on to say you want to purchase something? The current Sainsbury's card seems to offer 0% BT's for 10 months (3% fee), but only 3 months 0% on non-Sainsbury's purchases.0 -

Thanks for your response yorksireboy, I did appeal the rejection explaining the situation but it was to no avail

Sorry, chould have explained this better, I will be doing the large purchase on my exsisting card and using up the 56 days I.free on it. Hopefully by that time the roll should be updated from the canvas and then I will be looking for a BT card to transfer the balance too.[/quote]0
