Hi there
Is it accurate that there is little point reclaiming all your ppi and charges, as it will all be kept as recompense? (I can see how, although it irks because the snowballing charges years ago caused the bankruptcy!)

The short version is that Bankrupts cannot ever complain about mis-sold PPI because that right now belongs solely to the Official Receiver. Any redress will be redistributed amongst the Bankrupt's former creditors. It's not kept as "recompense".
As to Bank charges, that particular ship sailed a decade ago...0 -
What if the ex bankrupt is claiming for a deceased relative?0

The executor of the estate can raise the complaint. If the complaint is successful and the estate was in surplus, then the funds will be distributed as per the Will or intestacy.0 -

In your own case, available records show only that your parents didn't have PPI. It's a bit moot now, but if they had the insurance you could have gone on to (successfully) complain and receive any redress awarded. Your own bankruptcy is irrelevant.
