Barclaycard PPI Claim

Hi,
This is my first post on here. My dad passed away in 1993, he was in ALOT of debt when he died and it was left to my mum to sort, it was all on a Barclays credit card. I've just seen that you can reclaim PPI for deceased, can you tell me how we go about doing this please?
Unfortunately we don't have any statements at all but we have all his details, is there anything we can do? I've read on here that with credit cards they can go that far back with PPI but how do we do it without account details?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
Rachel

If you have POA, you can make a complaint. However, there are at least two problems.
Firstly, do you know why he would have been mis sold? You need to stick only to the facts you know.
Secondly, the chances of there being any records left after a quarter of a century or more are slim to say the least. They should have been destroyed some decades ago.0 -

Also, did your mother clear all the debt your father ran up? If any monies were written off (as part of a settlement) then be aware that these can be offset against any redress should it be awarded.
In the first instance you should approach Barclays with as much detail of your father and his account as you can provide. But, as above, expect nothing and you won't be disappointed.0 -
No, my mother didn't carry on with the Barclay card, Barclays wiped the rest of the debt (around £1000) and stated the debt died with him. I'm guessing this means it cancels out any refund?
We're not sure if he had PPI or was missold it, I just saw the post on the latest MSE email and thought I'd ask0 -

Your main issue is the quarter century that has passed since your father passed makes it unlikely that any record of his finance still exists. The fact that you have no documentary evidence from your own archive and don't even know if he had the insurance, makes it doubly difficult.
So, while there is nothing to stop you enquiring, don't be counting any chickens...0 -
There is a second potential issue. Whilst Barclays will keep the money owed, if there were other debts and the estate was insolvent then the exectutor of the estate is legally obliged to repay any others that had debts wiped out at the time.0

As far as we are aware there are no other debts. I don't even know where to start or what to do on this. Thank you for your help so far guys0

If there is one big debt...there's a chance there's more you are unaware of.0 -
The bank will want to know that whoever complains has the authority to do so but the only way to find out is to ask.
Basically, phone or write with their details and proof you can complain and ask them to check if there are any accounts with info left and if there are,was there ppi applied to those accounts. If they find any, they will probably investigate without you needing to complain separately.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
