Agree with what bowlhead said earlier on BG American by the way (its only a fund I haven't looked at as I tend to go passive in North America).
It seems a bit odd to be complaining about it going off the boil when its performance in 2019 has actually been strong, the performance "issue" actually originated from the correction in the markets late last year.
Anyway if you go with the Baillie Gifford "house style" you will be getting volatility and quite likely underperformance in down markets, they don't really make a secret of their investment methodology they talk about it very clearly, very regularly. If that is something you are uncomfortable with the ell the fund, if you are happy to hold a fund for the long term then it isn't one that would concern me particularly.
To be honest if you are going to panic and want to sell a fund if it misses its benchmark over one defined period then maybe passive investment is a better approach for you.0
