boots worn to a hole in 1 month

Hi,
I bought a beautiful pair of bronx boots from schuh just over a month ago and they have both developed a hole at the toe where the leather meets the sole. I took them back and the assistant manager said "its just wear and tear". I pointed out that 1 months wear and tear should not develop a hole in an £80 pair of boots but all he said was "you can contact customer services if you're not happy". I've done that and they're supposedly contacting him to hear his side of the story but how can they justify a pair of boots developing a hole in 1 month when there is virtually no wear on the rest of the sole. I thought Shuh was a good shop but whatever the outcome of this I won't be buying from them again if this is their attitude.

Are these a particular fashion style? Were you sure you got the right size?0

they're an ankle boot - and very comfy at my normal size 6 so yes I'd say I had the right size. The style is called dessa. Cust services have called back and still haven't been able to speak to the assistant manager but said that they would tomorrow and that I had 3 options - 1 get them assessed by the manager at the store. 2. get them assessed by the manager at another store. 3. Send them in to customer services. I said I couldn't do anything til the weekend anyway as I'm off work with a stomach bug so can't go out at the mo.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

Have a look here: http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/
I've used them a number of times and they have been very helpful - they have given me and OH lots of information in situations like yours. IMO it sounds like the boots weren't fit for purpose, and you should get your money back - but I've found shoe shops are usually awkward over things like this. Good luck!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

As the above poster said, your boots were not fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. Quote the 'sales of goods act 1979'0

hmm they've said that there should have been more than 1 manager on duty when I took my boots in - explained that I was told there was only one and theyre ringing him back to see why I was told that.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0
