Airport lounges, Diners club other cards

Thinking of getting Diners Club so I can use their airport lounges.
Anyone use this card or others?
Do they charge for access to lounges, how has the service been?

Thanks

The only Diners Club card available in the UK is the Miles & More card. It doesn't give free lounge access, just £15 access which doesn't justify the £79 fee unless you fly with Lufthansa regularly!

That should help! Depending on your usage, the Gold AMEX or Platinum AMEX card might be worth it.

Best idea is to contact them direct - customer services 0124 447 0937.

We had DC cards a few years ago when they were on offer free from Citibank UK, and their linked airport lounges were free.

Then they were soon taken over by a Chester based financial group, a £50 annual fee was charged, with £15 entry fee for airport lounges.

At that point we dumped them as did many others in similar position.

The lounges were fine, and even at £15 it would be a decent deal.

I suspect that things have changed since then, so best idea is to contact them.

You might find it a better deal not to bother with a card and just pay as you go at the door.

To my knowledge there is no card that will give you absolutely free airport lounge access - somewhere in the deal you will be paying for the service.

I've looked at various cards for lounge access but decided that I don't fly enough to justify the cost. It depends upon the airport, airline and time of day but now if I want a lounge access in the UK then I'll see what deals are available on HolidayExtras and other sites. Overseas I sometimes pay on the door but usually I'm happy to explore the airport.

Thanks for the information. iI does seem that non-uk Diners Club cards get much better deals, such as free lounge access.

US credit cards tend to have better benefits but on the other hand they tend to have big fees. In the UK we have come to expect credit cards to be free.

If I can book a lounge at Heathrow or Gatwick for £20-25 then I'm usually happy to pay it as I can spend that amount of money in one of the bars or restaurants in no time at all.
