Help please with this error message

I Just bought a PC game for my other half for crimbo off the t'internet and thought I'd better test it b4 sending it off to Santa.;) Anyhow, it installs fine but when I click to play I just get

Integer divide by zero at address 0 x 374496. Please submit the .log and .err files to tech support.

Not being a total computer whizz myself I cant seem to find a way to make the thing work. The software company who produce the game dont have any patches on their website and I've tried making my XP setup backwards compatible just in case that helped but still no joy.
Any ideas would be brilliant as I wanted it be a surprise prezzie so can't ask my techhie hubby!
The Game by the way is MATT HAYES FISHING by Electronic Arts

I have done that once already(this is take 2!) Mervyn....so was kinda hoping for a miracle this time !!

Have you checked that it is XP compatabile ??????
Have the publishers or game makers got an email address you can contact them on ????
Not been a techie cant really help anymore.
Perhaps try posting on a games / fishing or similar forum somewhere ????
