MBNA Dual Credit Card

Just got MBNA Dual Credit Card and made a significant purchase with it.
It turns out the purchase option infers a charge of 5% (not advertised) where the balance transfer only 2.69% (advertised on the main site, in the provided letter). I wonder if this is a misleading advertisement. I could use another card I have and made a balance transfer saving myself £100s.
I was planning to get back to them and request a reduction in fee as this was very misleading for me. And I have the option to make this purchase with another card and make a transfer. is it worth the effort or they will just bite me with some small print and tell me I'm an idiot?
please advice!
BTW: MSE website does not inform of the charge either so be careful if you got MBNA card and planning to make a purchase with it. Use another card and make a balance transfer. Saves you scraching your head like I have now.

Where are you seeing this 5% fee? I'm fairly sure you are mistaken. I have never known a fee of this type to be charged on purchases on any card.
Have you perhaps made a transaction which has been classed as a cash advance for some reason?0 -
There are no 5% charges for purchases.
What was the “purchase” you made?

The summary box states 5% for cash transactions - could what you bought have been categorised as cash?0
