changing energy company

My current contract with OVO energy finishes in October. I have until August 17th before the 49 day early departure clause allows me to change.
I have been looking at some fixed two year deals but the monthly cost is more than I can afford, is it possible for me to pay upfront an amount i.e £100.00 which would reduce the payments to something I can afford. If so how do you set about doing it as the energy you supply for a quote will dictate the monthly payments ?

If you can't afford to pay the bills, how will paying a bit in advance magically resolve the issue? At the end of the day you still have to pay for the energy that you have used.0

£100 is about 600 kwh. Can you cut your consumption by 600 kwh ?
Carry out an energy audit of every item in your property, how many hours you use it and calculate an annual cost per item.
Could you cut down your shower from 15 to 10 mins ? Switch off those lights when not in the room ? half fill the kettle ? Lots of little bits will add up.
Are you on E7 ? with a little effort could you be ? Read you meter last thing at night and first thing in the morning ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Basically i just look at the actual prices ,unit and S/C .
I know my aprox yearly usage and that dictates the direct debit amount .
Two year fix will often be dearer than one year fix .
What is your current ovo tariff rates and DD .
If a new fix DD is to high is your current Ovo DD covering your costs , or are you in debit .0
