Hi,I've been looking through the threads and cannot find any case that similar to mine. Thanks for reading my post.
In Feb 2019 I parked in a private car park for a work customer meeting in Manchester. I completely missed the signs saying I needed to display a permit or pay for parking. Circa 3 weeks later received a penalty fine of £60. I contacted the customer I visited who leased his office and 6 spaces and he put in writing that I was authorised to park in the car park. I sent this onto UKCPS who rejected it and insisted I pay the fine, I then raised to the IAS who rejected my claim. Noting this I then thought I’d pay the £60 fine. Unfortunately it then went up to £100 which I disputed as i thought £100 was too much. Unfortunately they rejected again. The fine has now gone up to £185! This week I had a mediation call with the court where UKCPS gave me the option to now pay £130 over time, which I rejected. I am now due to go to court. I’m really surprised they are taking this so far. OK I know I’m in the wrong for not having a permit but surly the confirmation from the lessee of the building and spaces is evidence to state I was allowed to park there. Your help on this is very much appreciated. It would be also good to know what the maximum fine would be if I am found guilty. Thanks

No cases similar to yours? There are hundreds, if not thousands of threads on here about court cases and parking.
At the top of this board is a thread that tells Newbies to read it first. Post 2 in that thread deals with the court process. It sounds as though you are a fair way into it which is unfortunate but we are where we are.
What was the defence you entered?0 -
Hi Waamo, thanks for response, i have yet to receive the court papers which I presume is where I will enter my defense, do you know rough timescales between mediation and receiving court papers? Any advice on what defense I should enter is greatly appreciated. Thanks0

This isn't making much sense. Mediation comes after court papers not before.
Are you mixing up mediation (which is arranged by the court service) and an appeal?0 -
Indeed - OP it is *impossible* for you to have done mediation - which is arranged by the court - UNLESS you have *already* received a Court Claim form, completed it, and completed the DQ that comes after
You must, withouty ANY room for ambiguity, tell us the *precise* stage you are at.0 -
Hi, thanks all for replying, I've just checked and it appears I have done my defense, although I didn't realise it was the proper court defense, it was done on moneyclaim.gov. as such my defense was brief and not detailed. Here it is. " I have provided evidence to UKCPS Ltd from the building tenants
that I was allowed to park. The fine is unreasonable and to much.
Thanks"
The frustrating this was that I was happy to pay the £60 after the failed appeal to IAS, but this jumped up to £100 which I believed was unreasonable. Having now read through everything in much more details I feel my chances of winning in court are slim. Any advice is appreciated, Thanks0 -
It is not a fine. You really need to do a lot more reading. Have you read the stickies? You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

Have you read newbies thread, post 2, so you know how to compose your witness statement?
I have no idea why you didnt think completing a box called "defence" woudl not be your actual defence. IT beggars belief at times.0 -

Oh dear. I think your going to struggle with that.0 -
I gave in and just paid.
Lesson learnt. Read the threads as soon as you get the ticket and read documentation you are sent and have to complete.0
