Painting kitchen cabinets

I have (orange) pine cupboard doors and would like to attempt revamping them rather than 'coughing up' for a new kitchen as I have no intention of changing the layout.
I am interested in success stories AND step by step instructions to that success!!!!
Is it worth doing and good enough to last a decent length of time?
Thanks

I did this in our first house and it lasted about 8 years before I redid the kitchen. Preparation is key as is picking decent quality paint. Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0

This website might be helpful for advice on doing this:

I believe its run by a professional kitchen cabinet painter, and there is a forum where you can ask for advice.0 -

I have done this a couple of times.
I took the doors off and laid them flat on a table to paint which helps a lot with drips/runs
You can also go over the flat surfaces with a mini roller to reduce brush marks.0 -
Kitchen cabinets are also made easy with an HVLP sprayer. Build up lots of thin coats for a durable finish. In this weather you probably don't need to leave any drying time, as you finish the last door you can go back onto the first. Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0

Another vote for spraying and lots of prep.0

Worth searching old threads on this, similar comes up every so often

I had great success painting with

Self priming and self sealing, still looks like the day I did it several years later. Completly scrubbable with spray cleaner and a cloth/sponge
I painted mainly in situ, on fake wood cupboards. Pale blue looks lovely.
Cleaned thoroughly; took most handles off, painted on with a brush then used a gloss mini roller for texture and smoothing. Dried quickly. Did 2.5 coats in several sittings over several weeks. Cupboards kept in situ, drawers taken out. Cost £50 plus brushes
Let me know if you want more details0 -
Lots of prep and lots of more prep is the answer0

Yep, as above! That orange pine will be harbouring years of grease & grime.... which new paint doesn’t like!
Don’t believe the hype about chalk paint sticking to anything without prepping!
As Tony Blair nearly said “preparation, preparation, preparation”0
