Hi all,

This is my first post on MSE forums and was looking for some advice. After reading the newbies thread, just wanted to confirm the situation. The driver was collecting a friend from a block of flats which has no visitor parking and fob entry. They therefore parked on double yellows (and on the kerb!) for approx 10mins while they went to collect said friend. Now this is not a busy through way or road, it eventually leads to a church centre. When returning they saw Link Parking ticketer and explained their situation ie only 10mins etc. He said it had already been issued and drove of. So technically the driver is in the wrong, but is it worth appealing due to lack of other parking/length of stay???
It should also be noted (although dont know how much this matters) the number to call on the signage has broken away and there is no location number on the signage, but there is on the ticket. Again, dont know if these technicalities matter!

If appealing, as LINK are part of the IPC is the driver clear in thinking they should wait for the NTK to arrive to the registered keeper and use the blue template at the beginning of the newbies forum??

Thank you for any advice!

The driver does absolutely nothing and is not involved at any point. The keeper waits for the NTK and then sends the appeal template in blue, unaltered.

Get pics of the site and signage asap in case this goes further, and get the friend to dig out their lease/AST. Look specifically to see what it says or doesn't say about parking, parking permits, visitor parking, and yellow lines.
Remember, what the lease doesn't say about parking is just as important as what it does say.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so complain to your MP.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
