Getting quote for new extension painting

We were told by a friend that good painters are usually booked months ahead. So we are thinking to find a way start getting quote and etc.
But the house extension has only been completed 60%. The big shapes (walls and etc.) are there but internal walls are yet to be build. Everything is in a "raw" state.
I'm wondering if it's realistic to ask the decorators to come have a look of the house. With our general idea of where/how many walls to paint and coving etc., to have some quotes before booking one soon. The house is not expected to be sign off by the builder until near end of August. We just don't want to find a decorator the last minute and find out having to wait for ages.
Any advice would be appreciated.

You need to wait a certain amount of time for plaster to dry and it could be that is the same as the wait so might not be an issue waiting?0

Assuming you have drawings of the extension, with sizes marked, a decorator should be able to provide a quote based on that. You are right to say that top quality tradespeople can be booked up for months, and need to wonder why one would be available for immediate start.0

Hi Tellit01, thank you. We are renting right now with a newborn. Hence keen on getting this done asap before moving back in (save the rent!).0
