PPI - Is this spam

Hi. I have been having an email conversation with a company, Financial Direct, who contacted me about PPI against a lender. This particular loan that I had ended up in court amounting in a CCJ.
The representative from Financial Direct seems to have a lot of information about me and the case and quotes that the case is finalized, see below
"Sir your claim has already been finalized, Your claim amount is submitted into the county court under an escrow account and we have to show a payment of your solicitor fee into the same escrow account as your authorization that you are agreed with the final settlement of this claim so you will not raise any dispute after receiving the funds. There is no way you will not receive your claim amount after clearing the solicitor fee. You can expect a payment confirmation shortly."
I am very unsure!!
Any advice would be most welcome.
John

Incidentally, why are you even chasing redress on a loan you defaulted on? Any redress (should it be awarded) would be offset against monies still owed0 -
"Financial Direct" seem to be popping up a fair bit now and this definitely looks extremely suspicious to say the very least!
They are basically asking for payment from you before you receive any money, which is one of the oldest scams in the book. Once they receive an initial payment, I am sure that there will be other "costs" which you will need to pay before any payment can be made. Of course, you will never see a penny.
Stay well away. They will have purchased your information from somewhere and are just using it to try and appear genuine.I work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!0 -
Hi
Many thanks for your reply. Re the County Court, the original loan was paid in full but not until after the CCJ was recorded. I have a letter from the court confirming that.

Notable issues with this.
1 - American spelling and terms and poor grammar - That is one good way to identify scams
2 - escrow isnt a term used in the UK
3 - unless you employed a solicitor, they would not act on your behalf. They are also not allowed to act on cold calling. So, that is not possible.I have been having an email conversation with a company, Financial Direct
This company is not authorised by the FCA and not legally allowed to transact in the area they are saying.
So, it does appear to be a scam. Advance fee fraud is what it appears to be.0 -

Thanks to you all for your responses. I guessed it was probably a spam but due to the amount they were speaking about It was worth checking.
Many thanks
