Hi there - Back for more advice!
Have obtained my credit report from experian and a little confused
It was as expected (not all that good) but one thing I wanted to query - some years ago I defaulted on a mobile phone (have notpaid this off, moved house etc, head in the sand) This shows as a defaukt ob my report from Vodafone, but recently a DCS called Wescott have also added a default on my file for the same account.
How can I have 2 defaults for the same account ? I have certainly had no dealings with Wescott so can't have defaulted on an agreement with them.
Pls can someone advise ?

By the looks of things, Vodafone have 'sold' the debt to Wescott who have automatically defaulted you as a matter of course. They will now try to find you and get the debt serviced.
How long ago was this debt?Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.0 -
Only a few years - totally willing to pay it off when they find me- but peeved that am saddled with 2 defaults- can one of them be removed /??0

Unfortunately, as far as I understand (and I'm more than happy to be corrected on this), if you then clear the debt, it goes down as satisfied, however stays on your credit record for a set period of time. Thusly why the Vodafone one is still on there even tho' the debt is being serviced by WescottDemocracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.0 -
So technically it shows as 2 defaults even though it's one and the same??? That sucks!0

I will still question the legality of it!! Yes, I defaulted on an agreement with Vodafone - but I have no agreement with Westcot, not even a letter fromt hem, so how on earth have I defaulted on agreement with them.
Surely in order to default, you have to have broken an agreement with them personally int he first place!0 -

True enough, but it's like a pre-emptive strike. The moment you raise your head to get it, they'll go after you and it'll not make any differenceDemocracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.0 -
Sorry!!! Another question...... How much difference does it make to your credit report or your credit worthiness if you have defaults but they are marked as settled / satisfied ? Does that actually help ?0

Shameless bump!
Does anyone know the answer to my last question ?0 -
I think you'll find that you CANNOT be defaulted twice on the same debt. There are other threads on here to do with this kind of situation will see if i can find one for you.
This one might help you out a bit.
